This position is accountable for all accounting operations at Mid-Valley, including the production of financial reports, maintenance of the accounting record system, and the controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk. The Controller enhances the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensures that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and reporting standards. This position is also responsible for cash and risk management.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Oversee all accounting functions
  • Financial Statement preparation and analysis
  • Responsible for all fiscal reporting
  • Tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll and other taxes as well as corporate tax returns
  • Cash management and banking relationships, monitors covenant compliance and reporting
  • Oversee risk management programs to assess risk and insure company assets
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and auditing of those controls
  • Work with CPA for annual review statement
  • Direct preparation of budgets/forecasts and analyze variances
  • Train and assist other managers with individual department budgets and projections. Provide department specific info to managers as needed
  • Management of cost accounting system and analysis
  • Oversee all aspects of commercial contract billing, review all contracts, billings, lien releases, etc.
  • Process credit memos for the Commercial Sales department
  • Provide notary services as needed
  • FSC tracking, reporting, compliance, and audits
  • Data base management in Ponderosa
  • Assist with inventory control, review annual physical inventory, and approve all stock discrepancy filings
  • 401(k) plan administration
  • Oversee and process bi-weekly hourly and semi-monthly salary payroll using ADP
  • Fixed Asset accounting and control
  • Special assignments as directed by company president


  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in accounting or finance), or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum of five years managing teams and individuals
  • Financial statement preparation experience
  • Experience creating departmental and company budgets
  • Experience in full-cycle accounting and inventory procedures
  • Understanding of managerial and cost accounting principals
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management in both verbal and written communications
  • Manufacturing experience preferred
